Spanish Friends Support Our Soldiers
Patricia Nahmad, TAU representative for the Andalusia Region of the Spanish Friends of TAU, together with Helena Ohayon, Remedios del Rio, and Ben Nemenyi organized an exclusive evening event in Marbella, with proceeds going towards scholarships to students who participated in Israel's Operation Protective Edge this past summer.
TAU President Joseph Klafter sent video greetings to the guests at the intimate dinner, which was generously hosted by the Valere family. "I would like to thank you once again for contributing to the scholarship fund, to the future of higher education in Israel, and to promoting the good name of Tel Aviv University in Spain," said Klafter. "You send a strong message of support to the young people at TAU who bravely defended Israel and who will continue to do so." Guests were moved by the video testimonial of one such student who shared his experiences of being called up for military duty in the midst of studying for his end-of-year examinations.
Participants also heard from Prof. Alberto Spektorowski of TAU's Department of Political Science who gave an overview of political affairs in Israel.
Amongst those attending the event were TAU Governor Henri Misrahi and his wife Astrid, and the Hon. Consul of Israel in Andalusia, Raphael Cohen.
