Five TAU movies to be screened at the Montreal Film Festival
Five students from TAU's Department of Film and Television will have their films screened at the prestigious international festival
Five films made by students from Tel Aviv University's Department of Film and Television will be screened at the prestigiousMontreal World Film Festival, to be held between August 22nd and September 2nd.
One of the films, "Gloria" by Tamar Baruch, which recently won Best Independent Short Film at the Jerusalem Film Festival, will be screened as part of the International Competition in Montreal. The movie tells the story of a boy who suffers from insomnia and accidentally runs into his father's young girlfriend as she slips out of his house in the middle of the night. The encounter allows the protagonist to gain a better understanding himself and the young woman.
In the Student Film portion of the Festival, three additional TAU films will be screened. "Homemade" by Lior Sagi follows the struggles of a mother to clear her son's name after he is arrested for alleged statutory rape, Ma'ayan Cohen's "Honeymoon" depicts the crumbling relationship of a couple staying at a luxurious hotel, and Avia Yagil's "Michael" explores the changing relationship between two brothers after it is revealed that one of them killed the family dog.
In the Focus on World Cinema section of the Festival, Yonatan Peretz's "No Such Street" will be screened. The film depicts a young girl's relationship with a homeless woman who saves her life.
