Dr. Nomi Levenkron

Prof. Shai Lavi, prof. Deborah Bernstein (Haifa U.)

Nomi Levenkron is a student of the Zvi Meitar Center for Advanced Legal Studies. She acquired her B.A in Criminology, Sociology and Anthropology from Bar-Ilan University (1996), her LL.B in Law from the College of Management (1999), her M.A.  in Security Studies from Tel Aviv University (1999) and her LL.M. from Tel Aviv University (2009). Her dissertation, supervised by Prof. Daphne Barak - Erez and Prof. Shai Lavi, titled "Could the Master's Tools Dismantle the Master's House? Sweden’s Criminalization of Punters as a Case Study on the Potential of Legislation to Transform the Sex Industry" dealt with the discourse of criminalizing client in Sweden.

Previously to her current studies, she was the Director of the Center for Clinical Legal Education at the Haim Striks School of Law (2008-2011), Head of Anti-Trafficking at the Hotline for Migrant Workers (2000-2008), and a Coordinator of the Israeli Coalition Against Trafficking in Persons (2001-2002). Since 2002 she has been teaching academic courses on human rights, women's rights, migrant rights, prostitution and trafficking at various academic institutions, including Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University, Tel Aviv Academic College, and Ramat Gan College.

She has received the National Decoration for Combating Trafficking (2012), the Israeli Bar Association "Women in Law" Award (2008), and the Israel Law and Society Association prize (2014).
