Prof. Hisham Abu-Raiya is a clinical psychologist and lecturer at the Bob Shapell School of Social Work. He teaches a diverse array of courses including Existential Psychotherapy, Basic Concepts in Jungian Psychology, Anti-Psychiatry Movement, Personality Theories, and Religion and Spirituality as Coping Resources with Life Crises. He has earned his BA in psychology and sociology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1997) and his Master's degree (2005) and PhD degree (2008) in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA.
Prof. Hisham Abu-Raiya is an internationally known expert in the field of the psychology of religion. He has been the leading researcher in multiple research projects and has published many articles and book chapters pertaining to this field of inquiry. As recognition of his contribution to the field of the psychology of religion, he was recently awarded the 2016 Margaret Gorman Early Careen Award from Division 36 (the Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality) of the American Psychological Association (APA).
