Tel Aviv University Prize in Biophysics: Call for Nominations 2025

The Center for Physics and Chemistry of Living Systems at Tel Aviv University awards the Tel Aviv University International Prize in Biophysics to acknowledge exceptional achievements and contributions to research in the field of biophysics. It has been awarded to outstanding scientists since 2006. This year, an amount of $50,000 will be presented, to young investigators under the age of 45 (born after December 31, 1979). The prize will be awarded to the recipient(s), in person, at Tel Aviv University in a scientific symposium, which is tentatively planned to be held in May 2025.

 

Tel Aviv University administers the prize through an advisory committee comprised of the university’s President and Rector as ex-officio members and others who have been selected by the President and the Rector. 

 

The prize coordinators are Professors Gili Bisker, Uri Nevo, and Yair Shokef.

 

A selection panel composed of outstanding scientists in the field will be appointed, reflecting an international and geographical diversity and including the prize coordinators. 

 

Nominations for the prize can be made by individuals belonging to one or more of the following categories:  

  • Members of the Tel Aviv University Senate and members of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities
  • Presidents, Rectors, Vice-Presidents, Provosts, Deans in the Natural Sciences, Medicine & Engineering
  • Professors in recognized institutions of higher learning and research in Israel and abroad
  • Previous prize laureates
     

 

All nominations should be submitted by email before December 31h, 2024, to: sbiophys@tauex.tau.ac.il

 

 Each nomination should include:

  • Three to five letters of recommendation. Each recommender can support only one nominee.
  • Each nominee can only be submitted by one recommender.
  • Nominee's short CV, up to 3 pages
  • A brief research summary, up to 2 pages, the form appearing below.

 

 

Faculty members at Tel Aviv University are not eligible to receive the prize. Self-nominations cannot be accepted.
