My primary area of research is exploring the relationships between occupation, health, and well-being among women, particularly in relation to their roles as mothers. I focus on the effects of occupational performance on life satisfaction and physical and mental health in the context of significant life transitions. The populations that I study include women who experienced major life changes (such as becoming a caregiver), single mothers, mothers of children who were diagnosed with ASD or ADHD, and healthy mothers from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. My research employs both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
My second research area focuses on the development and evaluation of advanced teaching and learning approaches in occupational therapy education. Specifically, I investigate the contribution of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to the development of health professions students’ learning and communication skills, as well as their preparedness for interprofessional collaboration.
