Main research area
Heart failure (HF) is a complex, multifactorial syndrome resulting from impaired heart function. It is a serious clinical and public health problem affecting 64.3 million people worldwide and about 180,000 people in Israel. “Heart failure self-care” refers to practices in which patients engage in maintaining their own health (e.g., taking medications as prescribed, monitoring their weight, eating a low salt diet), and in decision-making to successfully manage signs and symptoms. Appropriate HF self-care is associated with improved survival, less frequent hospital admissions and ER visits, and improved quality of life.
My research is focused on factors affecting self-care among patients with HF.
