TAU Alumni Celebrate 60 Years
Top lawyers, senior bankers, leading actors, chief executives and judges celebrated Tel Aviv University's 60th anniversary at a huge campus-wide event. They were joined by thousands of TAU graduates who flocked to the University to reminisce with old classmates, see how the campus has developed, and be part of the official launch of TAU's Alumni Organization.
"Together, we constitute a huge force with which to lead not only Israel but the whole world in a meaningful way. The TAU Alumni Organization was established to develop and maintain the special connections formed between our alumni, strengthen relations with the community and create a place for mutual growth," stated TAU President Joseph Klafter in welcoming the guests.
The crowd was entertained by some of the biggest names in the Israeli music industry – Shalom Hanoch, Aviv Gefen and Ninet.
Tel Aviv University has 170,000 graduates, of which 50,000 have joined the Alumni Organization, which is the largest in Israel. "Just a year ago we were in contact with 20,000 alumni. Today, we have over 50,000 registered graduates. We hope to add another 10,000 over the next year," said Sigalit Ben Hayoun, Executive Director of the Organization.
"170,000 graduates are a source of strength and power. The Alumni Organization serves as a platform for continued dialog with University and an environment where graduates leverage their capabilities and skills for the benefit of society as a whole," added Sigal Adar, CEO of the Israeli Friends and responsible for the formation of the Organization.
