Yael Karshon studies Hamiltonian actions of Lie groups, an area of mathematics that evolved from the study of symmetries and conservation laws in phase spaces of classical mechanics. From this core, Karshon reaches out in different directions, including symplectic geometry, differential topology, geometric mechanics, and geometric quantization.
