Short Bio

Prof. Avi Kribus holds a B.Sc. from Tel Aviv University and a Ph.D. from Cornell University, both in Mechanical Engineering. After a post-doc at the Weizmann Institute he joined its department of ENvironmental Sciences and Energy Research. In 2001 he moved to the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University. He served as head of the FLuid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Department, and as head of the M.Sc. program at the Porter School of Environmental Studies.

Prof. Kribus was a guest professor at Johns Hopkins University (2001) and and CNRS-PROMES institute (2014).

He served as chairperson and committee member in many international conferences, and as Associate Editor in leading international journals. He also served as Chairperson and board member at the Israel Sustainable Energy Society (ISES).

Prof. Kribus consulted for many companies in Israel and abroad, co-founded a startup company in Israel (2005), and served as Chief Technologist in a solar energy startup company in the US (2009).

Research and publications

Prof. Kribus research work includes conversion of solar energy in thermal, photovoltaic and thermionic processes, solar concentrators, thermodynamics and heat transfe rin energy conversion processes, and energy storage.
