General Information

I joined the DAN Department of Communication at Tel Aviv University in 2024.

My research explores the relationships between technology, culture, and society, with a particular focus on the role of sound media in shaping and maintaining structures of power and knowledge from a historical-critical perspective.

I investigate questions such as: How does sound contribute to the production of authenticity and credibility in television news broadcasts? How do the notifications and alerts emitted by our smart devices regulate our attention in media-saturated environments? And how does a sound map differ from a visual map in shaping our ideas about spaces and places?

My current work centers on the intersection between the human voice and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, examining the political, cultural, and ethical questions in this context. I study "synthetic" news anchors in China, AI-powered mobile apps that analyze users' voices to assess levels of depression or anxiety, voice biometric authentication systems for information security, and related case studies.

I teach courses in the philosophy of digital media, introduction to sound and voice studies, and qualitative research methods in communication studies.
