General Information

Dr. Alon Yakter is a Lecturer in the School of Political Science, Government, and International Relations at Tel Aviv University. Dr. Yakter’s research and teaching revolve around the dynamics and implications of intergroup identities, attitudes, and conflict from a comparative perspective. His work has explored how ethnic and social cleavages are influenced by economic, social, and political factors, and how, in turn, they shape redistributive policies, public attitudes, voting patterns, and support for conflict resolution. He is also interested in Israeli electoral politics and co-manages the Israeli National Election Study (INES) and the Peace Index survey projects.

Dr. Yakter received his B.A. and M.A. (summa cum laude) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research has been funded by the Israel Science Foundation, the Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy, the University of  Michigan's Center for European Studies, and Tel Aviv University’s Walter Lebach Institute.
