TAU Orchestra at Carnegie Hall

Performing to thunderous applause, one of the most acclaimed student orchestras in the world, the Symphony Orchestra of Tel Aviv University's Buchmann–Mehta School of Music made a spectacular debut at Carnegie Hall on May 21, 2012 at a fundraising gala organized by the American Friends of TAU (AFTAU).

Maestro Zeev Dorman, head of the School, conducted a lyrical program featuring a Mozart symphony, selections from Don Giovanni, and a Vivaldi concerto. The winning program was performed by singers, string soloists, and the full ensemble – a combination of students, professors, and young Israeli professionals. About the Symphony Orchestra of TAU's Buchmann–Mehta School of Music

The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music was founded in 2004 as a unique partnership between Tel Aviv University and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), the country`s most prominent music institution. The school's Symphony Orchestra acts as a "farm team" for the IPO, with more than 50 students having performed with the IPO since the school's inauguration. Students work closely with principal players of the Israel Philharmonic and join the IPO in major concerts in Israel and abroad through a professional internship program. Master classes with IPO's guest conductors and soloists provide professional enrichment at the highest artistic level.
