Tel Aviv University Announces Special Admissions Track for IDF Disabled Veterans Injured in the Swords of Iron War
Candidates recovering from war-related injuries will be able to apply for undergraduate studies without taking the psychometric exam, under the University’s reserve-duty admissions framework.
Tel Aviv University announced today (March 15, 2026) that, ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 academic year, it will introduce a special admissions track for individuals who were injured in the Swords of Iron War and have been officially recognized as IDF disabled veterans with a disability rating of 20% or higher by the Ministry of Defense’s Rehabilitation Department.
Under this framework, applicants who are currently in the process of rehabilitation and recovery will be eligible for the same admissions accommodations granted to reserve-duty soldiers. They will be able to enroll in first-year undergraduate programs without the requirement to take the psychometric exam. The track applies to all fields of study on campus, with the exception of medicine.
It should be noted that immediately following the outbreak of the Swords of Iron War, the University introduced a special admissions pathway for reserve-duty personnel, in light of the exceptional challenges that prolonged reserve service created for those preparing for the psychometric exam.
Vice Rector Prof. Gal Oestreicher-Singer emphasized that the new decision is intended to ensure that IDF disabled veterans undergoing rehabilitation will not be disadvantaged in the admissions process due to health-related circumstances stemming from their military service.
