Israel as the start-up nation is now offering "start-up executive education" in innovation and entrepreneurship to senior managers from Nanjing, China. Under a cooperation accord signed with Tel Aviv University recently, 1,000 executives from Nanjing will arrive on campus over the next five years for immersive training in the Israel model of high-tech entrepreneurship. Each four-day seminar, to be taught by the LAHAV Executive Education center at TAU's Faculty of Management—Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration, will include lectures by academic experts, managers of venture capital funds and government figures, and visits to leading Israeli companies. TAU was the first choice of study venue for the Nanjing executives over other options such as the USA or Singapore.

The opening ceremony for the first seminar was held in the presence of Madam Gao Yanping, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the State of Israel, and a high-level delegation of senior Chinese officials from Jiangsu Province headed by Mr. Yang Weize, Secretary of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, as well as TAU President Joseph Klafter and Rector Aron Shai.

Prof. Klafter said that "Tel Aviv University is proud to play a focal role in strengthening academic relations between China and Israel. The program of studies for senior officials and leading entrepreneurs from the city of Nanjing, the first of its kind at Tel Aviv University, opens opportunities for important academic, scientific and research activities."

The course coincided with a special "Nanjing Day" held on the TAU campus which included an exhibition of Chinese art and an artistic performance by Chinese dancers, singers and acrobats from Nanjing which was open to the public. Israel and China are celebrating 20 years of diplomatic relations this year.
