Israeli Friends of Tel Aviv University
The Israeli Friends of Tel Aviv University (TAU) is a registered, non-profit organization that works alongside Tel Aviv University to promote the standing of the University in Israeli society. The Friends have supported the University since its establishment in 1956, when it comprised only five faculties and 1,500 students. Today, with nine faculties, 29 schools, and more than 29,000 students, the Friends take pride in the University's growth as a major source of outstanding social, economic, scientific and leadership potential in Israel.
The main goals of the Israeli Friends are to recruit a wide network of alumni and supporters and to raise funds for academic excellence, student aid, campus development, resource and technology enhancement and social outreach projects and more. Another priority is opening the gates of the University to the wider community, enabling local businesses and residents to take part in and contribute to the University's activities.
The Israeli Friends support numerous initiatives at the University including research chairs and institutes, scholarship funds for graduates and needy students, community initiatives and projects promoting access to higher education for diverse social groups. The Association holds regular activities including its flagship activity, the Business-Academic Club, an organization for strengthening ties between the University and local commerce and industry. Members of the Club comprise local executives of more than 170 of the world's leading companies and TAU management, all with a common interest in the future of education and research in Israel. Members meet in various forums to advance their shared belief that scientific research and higher education will guarantee Israel's economic and security advantage.
By joining the Israeli Friends, you will be taking an active part in shaping the face of Israel's future.
