The Hong Kong Friends association was officially launched by its chairperson, Sharon Ser, at the China Club. Over 60 guests from the local Jewish and business communities heard from TAU alumnus and Waze co-founder Uri Levine and TAU Honorary Doctor Ronnie Chan.

Attending the event were TAU President Joseph Klafter; TAU Vice President for Resource Development Amos Elad; Chairman of the Israel Chamber of Commerce Dr. Rafi Aharoni; Consul General of Israel in Hong Kong Sagi Karni; and Advisor to the Hong Kong Chief Executive on Innovation and Technology, Mr. Nicholas W. Yang.

While in Hong Kong, Prof. Joseph Klafter met with The Honorable C. Y. Leung, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, People’s Republic of China, to exchange views on issues of mutual concern. "I am pleased to see Tel Aviv University's research collaboration with different Hong Kong universities and look forward to more joint efforts in higher education and scientific research in the future," said Mr. Leung. He also encouraged more students from Israel to study or take part in exchanges in Hong Kong.
