Guidelines for Classes and Campus Activities on Sunday–Monday, June 15–16

All activities will be held remotely, except for essential staff required for the physical operation of the campus.

13 June 2025

To the Academic and Administrative Staff, Students, and the Tel Aviv University Community,

We are now entering the second day of war with Iran, and unfortunately, it may last for some time. We hope that you and your loved ones are coping as well as possible under the circumstances, and that you have not suffered any harm to person or property.

Just a few hours after the attack on Iran began, the Dean of Student Success opened a psychological support hotline for any member of our university community in need. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for support at: 076-8844492.

To our knowledge, some of our students—and likely some faculty and staff—have been called up for reserve duty. Our thoughts are with them. As always, we will do everything we can to support them academically and financially.

In light of the current security situation and the Home Front Command’s directive to suspend all educational activity, including at institutions of higher education, and to limit on-site work to essential services only, the following guidelines will be in effect for Sunday and Monday, June 15–16:

  • All classes will be held remotely via Zoom, and recordings will be made available to all students.

  • Exams, lab courses, and hands-on training will not take place on these days. Alternative dates will be scheduled later.

  • Teaching staff are asked to show flexibility regarding any delays in the submission of assignments originally due during this time.

Administrative work will also be carried out remotely, except for essential personnel required for the physical operation of the campus:

  • The security unit will be fully operational.

  • Maintenance and IT teams will operate at minimal capacity, as needed by the faculties, under the guidance of the administrative leadership (primarily to open shelters, place directional signage, support remote teaching, and maintain research requiring ongoing operations).

  • Essential teams in the engineering and IT divisions, on-call staff in finance, procurement, registration, payroll, and other key units will operate according to the instructions of the relevant deputy directors and department heads.

The security unit will soon share detailed guidelines with the campus community, including shelter information, emergency gate hours, and more.

We will continue to monitor the situation and Home Front Command updates, and we’ll share new instructions as needed.

Together with all of you, we hope for a swift and successful end to the war with Iran, without further harm to our soldiers or civilians. We mourn with the families of those killed in the Iranian attack and wish a full recovery to the wounded. Even now, we must not forget our hostages, suffering in the tunnels of Gaza. We must do everything possible to bring them home quickly.

Sincerely,
Ariel Porat, President
Mark Shtaif, Rector
Gadi Frank, CEO
