Professor Yaron Oz appointed Rector of TAU

Prof. Oz will be replacing Prof. Aron Shai, who served as rector for the last six years.

Professor Yaron Oz was previously the dean of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Faculty of Exact Sciences at Tel Aviv University. During 2006-2011 he served as the head of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler School of Physics and Astronomy.

 

Prof. Oz is the incumbent of the Yuval Ne'eman Chair in Physics. A theoretical physicist, his research specialization areas include elementary particle physics, quantum field theories and supersymmetry, quantum gravity and superstring theory.

 

Prof. Oz is President of the Israel Physical Society and chairs the National Committee for Basic and Applied Science of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. He completed his PhD in theoretical physics at the Technion in 1991; was a post-doctoral research fellow at UC Berkeley from 1996 to 1998; and served as a staff member at TH-Division CERN, Switzerland, from 1998-2002. He has been a Visiting Professor at LPTHE and College de France, both in Paris, and at UT at Austin, USA.

 

Prof. Oz has published over 140 scientific articles and has spoken at over 150 conferences and conventions.
