TAU students can now win up to $10,000 through coding

CodeVita, a global contest for improving coding skills, will be open to TAU students for the first time this year

29 November 2017

Thanks to an extensive collaboration agreement between Tel Aviv University and TATA Consultancy Services, for the first time ever TAU students will be able to enter the international coding competition CodeVita.

CodeVita first began in 2012 as a coding contest with the aim of promoting “programming as a sport”. Three years ago the contest first began allowing entries from all over the world, and people from over 40 countries have since participated. In 2016 CodeVita had over 260,000 registrations.

This year the top three contestants, all university students, will receive several impressive prizes. Among them will be 10,000 USD for the winner, 7,000 USD for the runner-up and 3,000 USD for the second runner-up.

Two rounds to win

In terms of structure, the contest will comprise of 2 rounds of coding, and in addition to this there will also be a practice round – Mockvita. Mockvita will help students warm up and prepare for the actual round of competition.

The first round of the contest will be made up of a series of real-time problems. Each student will get 6/8 programming problems to solve in 6 hours. Top performers of this round will get qualified for the grand finale based on the overall global ranking.

The second round, of Grand Finale, will consist of the top 15-20 contestants and will be held in India during February-March of 2018.
