The National Taiwan University (NTU) Ranking is considered among the most prestigious in the world, along with QS, Shanghai and Times Higher Education (THE). NTU has ranked the top 500 universities in the world since 2012, based on the publication of scientific papers and academic impact.

This year Tel Aviv University was ranked the top institution in Israel, outperforming all the other universities in the country. It was also ranked 130th in the world overall, up from 131st in 2015. In the global context, Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked 186th place and the Technion Institute of Technology 277th place.

The NTU ranking is comprised of the number of scientific articles published by a university (25% of the score), the amount of times these articles were cited (35% of the score) and overall research excellence (40% of the score). Each factor is measured both in terms of decades-long work as well as the last two years.
