Tel Aviv University inaugurated the Irving and Joyce Abramowitz Chair in Business Policy and Ethics at the Coller School of Management in a warm celebration during this year’s Board of Governors meeting.

Dedicated by TAU governor Mr. Marc Abramowitz and his wife Anita, the Chair will help broaden research and teaching of ethics in business, creating discussions that may lead to better policies and more international academic collaborations. This is particularly relevant to the modern business landscape as companies are more expected by customers to uphold good values such as inclusiveness and integrity.

The Chair’s incumbent is Prof. Yael Steinhart of the Coller School of Management. Her research is on the psychological aspects of consumer behavior, especially online. She has recently focused on the business and social implications of norm enforcement in online spaces.

At the event, Mr. Abramowitz spoke fondly of his family and their involvement in TAU and Israel, including his parents after whom the Chair is named. “How do you immortalize people? You have to do things that keep their memory alive, and that is what we are doing here today.”

TAU President Prof. Ariel Porat said, "This chair is a fitting tribute to Marc’s parents, and it is so good to see when someone as successful as Mr. Abramowitz finds meaningful ways to give back to society."
