With the war still ongoing, Israel faces a monumental recovery effort. Countless evacuees and communities remain displaced from their homes, reserve soldiers are bearing significant economic burdens, and both civilians and security personnel are grappling with the trauma of recent events. Against this backdrop, Tel Aviv University is stepping up to offer crucial support through a range of projects. From improving emergency response systems to addressing the nation’s pressing mental health crises, the University is committed to playing a pivotal role in Israel’s post-war recovery.
Naming Opportunities
- National Center for Traumatic Stress and Resilience: Advancing R&D, testing and administering of evidence-based treatment and interventions, this center promises to be a game changer that will significantly enhance treatment and prevention of PTSD and related conditions.
- National Post-Trauma Clinic: With over 150 weekly referrals thus far, the Clinic provides heavily subsidized treatments to IDF soldiers and veterans, security personnel, and children and adults suffering from PTSD and a range of anxiety disorders.
- October 7 Digital Archive: Initiated by doctoral students at TAU’s Zvi Yavetz School of Historical Studies, the Archive documents the civilian experiences and amazing civic engagement during October 7 and the ensuing war. Focusing on digital sources, primarily from social media, it ensures this information will remain accessible for study and research for generations to come.
- Community Resilience Research Fund: A unique research project aimed at understanding the challenges faced by vulnerable displaced populations, their coping mechanisms and reconstruction efforts with a view to fostering resilience and facilitating recovery.
