Dr. Sharon Weisser is a Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy, specializing in Ancient Philosophy. Her areas of specialization include Stoic philosophy, the ancient theory of emotions, Philo of Alexandria and polemics in ancient philosophy.
Dr. Weisser completed her Ph.D. studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at the Ecole Pratiques des Hautes Etudes (EPHE), Paris. Her dissertation thesis, which focused on the dispute on emotions between the Stoics and the Peripatetic tradition was awarded the Hebrew University Shlomiuk Prize for outstanding PhD dissertation in the Humanities. She was a Visiting Student Research Collaborator at the department of Philosophy at Princeton University in 2010-2011 and a Polonsky Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Polonsky Academy, The Van Leer Institute, in Jerusalem. Dr. Weisser is also a member of the team of the International Philo Bibliography Project.
