Issy made Aliyah from Hong Kong and served in a combat intelligence unit as a lone soldier, to which she returned as a reservist not long after her release. The war has been especially difficult for her as she had to focus on her duties while mourning the loss of a friend at the hands of terrorists. 

Since she is in the Lowy International School, Issy’s classes started before regular TAU studies and she is catching up on several months' worth of missed work now that she has returned. “My challenge is trying to balance my new life as a first year student while dealing with several losses and the overall adjustment to civilian life,” she says. Though it is tough to stay motivated knowing that she will be called back if conflict escalates in the north, she is glad for the financial and academic support the University has offered reservist students.
