Meet Amit

Age: 27
Rank: Sergeant Major
Military role: Reserve commander in the 299th Golani Infantry Unit, stationed in the north of Israel
Studies: 4th year BA student, dual degree in Mechanical Engineering and Earth Sciences 
Calling: Environmentalist entrepreneur 

Amit was called to reserve duty protecting the northern border right when the fighting broke out. “I had no doubt that defending my home was my first priority, and I left all my preparations for my studies behind and showed up. We have been here for 118 days and are ready to stay as long as it takes.”

Keeping up with his studies while protecting the country for months on end has been very challenging. “We have to keep our heads completely in our army duties, and somehow in our limited free time catch up with schoolwork and learning gaps.”

When he finishes fighting for his country, Amit hopes to fight climate change by using his dual degree to become an innovator in the field of clean energy.
