What's happened to American politics?

Join us on January 20th, at the Naftali Building, to hear former editor of The New Republic, Peter Beinart, explain the recent shift

19 January 2020

Noted columnist and editor Peter Beinart has written for Time Magazine, The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, and has served as the editor of The New Republic. He’s the author of three books and an associate professor of Journalism and Political Science at the City University of New York. In addition to being a contributor to The Atlantic and the National Journal, as well as programs on CNN, he’s also a senior columnist at Haaretz.

On January 20th, Mr. Beinart will give a lecture at TAU’s Center for the Study of the United States, titled: “How American Politics Went Crazy: Why Republicans embraced Trump and Democrats embraced socialism almost overnight”. The lecture will discuss American politics in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, and especially the tensions and fundamental gaps, that sometimes seem unbridgeable, between Republicans and Democrats.

The event will begin at 4pm and be open to the public, taking place on Monday, January 20th, at room 101 of the Naftali Building.
