Rescuing the Iris: Happy Passover from Tel Aviv University

Passover is a time to celebrate spring and renewal. Tel Aviv University’s Botanic Gardens Director Dr. Yuval Sapir has dedicated his research to saving and renewing the very symbol of spring in Israel – the once near-extinct purple iris, Iris atropurpurea. This rare coastal bloom is among more than 200 endangered plant species in Israel being conserved by the Botanic Gardens scientific team alongside their research, teaching and public education programs.
