Welcome Letter from Dafna Meitar-Nechmad, Campaign Co-Chair
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Tel Aviv University, an institution I am proud of on many levels.
As an Israeli and Tel Avivian, I am proud that my country’s most influential university grew from a local college to a world-class research institution in just 60 years.
As a triple graduate of TAU, I deeply appreciate the impact TAU has had on 170,000 alumni who have gone on to shape Israel’s economy and society.
As a long time donor to TAU, along with my family, I value the University’s contribution to making Israel the 4th most educated country in the world. For my family, there are three major factors in success: education, education, education.
Through my philanthropy, I’ve learned two important lessons that I’d like to share with you.
The first is that real philanthropists, real social investors, don’t only fund. They are true partners. They contribute their experience and knowledge.
The second lesson is that nobody can change the world alone.
I tell you this now, as Co-Chair of TAU’s Global Campaign, a role I am humbled and honored to hold.
TAU is the ultimate social investment, and we have set an ambitious goal: to raise $1 billion over 10 years. We are doing this because we have to look ahead – we need to be prepared for the next stage, the next challenges and the next generation. As David Ben-Gurion said, “It’s not enough to be up-to-date; you have to be up to tomorrow.”
We can only accomplish this together – friends, supporters and alumni from Israel and abroad.
To start, I invite you to read about our most inspiring projects. Whether you believe in Israeli technology, social start-ups or environmental protection as the means to a better world, you will find something that sparks your imagination.
Join us in our pursuits. Join TAU’s change-makers club.
