Student City: Making Room for Our Brightest Students
Student City is the largest and most ambitious building project in Tel Aviv University’s history. Student City was built to increase affordable housing on campus and thereby admit more talented and high-potential Israelis from the periphery. And it has paid off, almost doubling the number of dormitory beds at TAU.
The 60,000m2 (645,835ft2) complex offers residential units for over 1,700 students and researchers from Israel and overseas. It is the University’s most visible landmark, and is seen daily by tens of thousands of commuters on the Ayalon freeway, Israel’s busiest thoroughfare. The Student City complex features expanses of grass and trees where residents can study, meet or simply relax in the sun. It also offers shops, cafes, a student club, promenades and recreational facilities. The complex comprises eight multi-storey buildings, with another three buildings under construction and slated to be complete by October 2020.
Dedicating facilities at Student City will forever link the donor’s name with student excellence and equal opportunity in education.
