Edmond J. Safra Bioinformatics Program
Interdisciplinary excellence in the field of bioinformatics at Tel Aviv University
The study of the human genome as well as the need to analyze biological and medical research data coupled with the rapid advances in the field of computer science have recently created a new, interdisciplinary discipline – bioinformatics. Experts in this field are sorely needed in order to combine the methodology and expertise of medicine, biology and computer science to make better use of available information and benefit the scientific community.
The bioinformatics programs at Tel Aviv University have existed for over a decade and are geared towards producing high quality experts. The programs train students and researchers from the Computer Sciences, Life Science and Medicine faculties in the fields of bioinformatics research, development and education.
TAU is a world leader in developing new drugs and technologies, new computation methods for bio-medical research, disease prevention and improvement of quality of life. This allows the level of bioinformatics instruction and research at TAU to be first rate, on a global scale.
The Edmond J. Safra program serves as an interdisciplinary framework for bioinformatics research and offers scholarships to honor roll TAU students from the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate's programs.
