TAU among world's top 10 universities producing VC-backed entrepreneurs

Since 2009 TAU graduates have founded over 140 companies that received venture capital backing, putting Tel Aviv University in 9th place

Tel Aviv University has recently been ranked 9th in the world among univerisites whose alums have managed to secure venture capital backing for their companies and enterprises. The ranking was done by private research firm PitchBook based on data about the educational backgrounds of 13,000 founders. 

 

In total, 169 TAU alumni founded 141 companies which received venture capital backing between 2009 and 2014. The top spots on the list are occupied by Stanford and UC Berkeley. TAU and the India Institute of Technology were the only universities outside the United States to be included in the top ten. Other Israeli institutions featured on the list were the Technion at #19 and the Hebrew University at #37. 

 

Additionally, graduates of the MBA program at the Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration were ranked first outside the US and Europe in their ability to secure venture capital for their startups, and TAU alums with a bachelor's degree were ranked second in the world outside the US and Europe.
